Harish lends support to relay-fast of SSA employees at Siddipet collectorate
Harsih Rao supports SSA employees protest
Hyderabad: Former minister Harish Rao extended his support to the relay hunger strike of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) employees at the Siddipet Collectorate.
Addressing the gathering, he strongly criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for failing to deliver on promises made to SSA employees and other sections of society during his election campaign. Harish Rao reminded the public of the Chief Minister’s claim that the issues of SSA employees would be resolved in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. Nearly a year has passed since the Congress government came to power, yet the issues remain unaddressed. He questioned whether the Chief Minister had forgotten his promises and called upon his family to remind him of the commitments he made to the people.
He pointed out that Revanth Reddy had previously asked people to work an extra hour to remove KCR from power but has done little himself after assuming office. Despite promising to regularize the jobs of SSA employees during a protest in Warangal on September 13, no action has been taken. Instead, SSA employees who protested at Indira Park and marched to the Assembly to remind him of his promises were arrested, including women employees.
Harish Rao accused the Chief Minister of betraying farmers by failing to fulfill his promises of loan waivers, Rs15,000 under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, Rs4,000 pensions under Aasara, and Rs2,500 support for women. He stated that Revanth Reddy deceived four crore people of Telangana and broke oaths taken on three crore gods. He criticised the Congress government for failing to implement the Right to Education Act even after completing a year in power. The government also failed to allocate the promised 15 per cent of the budget for education, with only 7.4 per cent allocated instead.
Under the Congress regime, 2,500 schools have been shut down, and 49 students in Gurukulam schools have tragically died due to contaminated food. The delay in releasing funds for mid-day meals further highlights the government’s negligence.
Harish Rao highlighted the Congress government’s failure to deliver on its promise of a “Mega DSC” recruitment drive for unemployed youth and its dismissal of education volunteers. He stated that the Congress government is celebrating victories while ignoring the struggles of the people, calling this a shameful act. He demanded that the government invite SSA employees for discussions before the Assembly sessions commence on December 16 and reiterated the BRS party’s commitment to fighting for the regularization of SSA employees.
Harish Rao called upon the people to defeat the Congress decisively in the Graduate MLC elections. He encouraged SSA employees and all sections of society to work together and demonstrate their strength in holding the Chief Minister accountable for his promises. He concluded by stating that as long as the promises remain unfulfilled, he will continue to call Revanth Reddy “Revanth the Betrayer,” adding that no number of cases filed against him can silence the truth
